Urban Meyer is the worst coach in NFL history.
That might sound like a bold claim but it’s really not. He was fired last year by the Jaguars just 13 games (13 games!) into his first season after signing a huge 5-year deal. Most coaches, no matter how bad they are, can make it to the end of their first year but most coaches aren’t as much of an embarrassment as Meyer was during his very brief time in Jacksonville.
Let’s look at some of the awful things he did during those few months when a NFL team was dumb enough to give him the keys to the franchise:
He hired a strength coach who had lost his previous job over racism claims.
He brought in 34-year-old Tim Tebow to be a tight end.
He ditched his team after a road game.
He had that embarrassing night at a Columbus bar.
He allegedly kicked his kicker.
He reportedly said a lot of bad things about his assistant coaches to their faces and in front of the team.
He treated a lot of adults like children.
He was then fired in the middle of the night.
All of that is really bad (and there are a lot more things that can be added to that list) and shows that Urban Meyer isn’t a good enough coach or person to have such an important job.
None of that, though, concerned Fox Sports because over the weekend they quietly announced that Meyer would be back on their college football studio show, which is an absolute joke of a move by a network that should know better.
I mean, who in the world at this point would want to hear anything that Urban Meyer has to say about anything?
His credibility is loooooooooong gone.
He’s shown the world many times just how bad of a person he can be.
And now we’re supposed to be excited about turning on our TVs on Saturdays and watching the worst coach in NFL history weigh in on football related matters?
No thank you.
What a joke of a move by Fox Sports.
