It was not the best of days for Auburn on the football field on Saturday as the Tigers were upset 30-22 by South Carolina in Columbia.
The great people over at 247Sports took notice but held the Tigers in the bowl pecking order to face someone Gus Malzahn might not want to see: P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The pick: Auburn vs. Minnesota
We first projected Gus Malzahn’s Tigers here last week despite a national ranking inside the Top 15 as a contender in the SEC West. Why? Auburn hadn’t shown much consistency on offense. That on again, off again attack showed up again over the weekend during a loss to South Carolina. From the Big Ten, Minnesota looks to challenge Wisconsin this fall on its side of the conference, but has a tough opener next weekend vs. Michigan.
If you don’t remember, Auburn and Minnesota met in this year’s Outback Bowl and the Big Ten team got the best of the Tigers in a 31-24 victory.
