Update on Nick Saban’s status in coaching at Tennessee.

TUSCALOOSA — Alabama head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for COVID-19.

Saban’s positive test came Wednesday afternoon. He is asymptomatic.

His positive result jeopardizes him traveling and coaching at Tennessee for next week’s game against the Vols. The Vols will host Alabama in Week 5 of a 10-game SEC-only schedule (3:30 p.m. EDT, CBS).

Amesh Adalja, M.D., senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security and served on the NCAA coronavirus advisory panel, discussed Saban testing positive for COVID-19 and how it affects the Tennessee-Alabama game.

“Positive cases that are asymptomatic, mild or moderate, require isolation for 10 days after the time of the test or the start of symptoms,” Adalja told Vols Wire.
