Update on former Gator Kadarius Toney’s status for Super Bowl LVII

Whether Kadarius Toney will play or not is still up in the air.

The University of Florida is among the schools with the most representatives on Super Bowl rosters but one former player’s potential appearance is currently jeopardized by an injury.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver [autotag]Kadarius Toney[/autotag] suffered an ankle injury in the AFC championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 30. He sat out practice all last week with the injury, though head coach Andy Reid did note that he was improving and had participated in walkthroughs.

Toney told USA TODAY Sports’ Tyler Dragon on Monday night that he is “definitely” playing in Sunday’s title game but still remains the only Chiefs player to not fully participate in an attended practice. The situation surrounding his status remains nebulous and will likely continue until game day.

The former Gators standout was traded from the New York Giants to Kansas City early in the season and logged just 21 touches on the season for over 200 yards and three touchdowns.

Super Bowl LVII will be played on Sunday, Feb. 12, at State Farm Stadium, Scottsdale, Arizona, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST.
