No news appears to be good news.

No news is good news, at least at the moment.

It’s been a wild 24 hours in college football, from the initial reports that the Big Ten was leaning towards canceling the 2020 season to the #WeWantToPlay movement to later reports that the conference had officially canceled the 2020 season to another that it hadn’t even taken a vote, despite some reporters claiming it was 12-2 vote in favor of cancellation.

Whew, got all that?

It seems that, for now, the Big Ten will live for fight another day as the athletic directors’ virtual meeting — it was previously reported as a university presidents’ vote — did not culminate at a decision to cancel or postpone the season to the spring.

The Associated Press’ lead sports reporter, Ralph D. Russo, indicated that it’s starting to feel less like a cancellation in the Big Ten and more of a possible delay — though there’s no further indication whether that means starting the season in spring or later in the fall, as the revamped Big Ten schedule was built to handle.

The only thing we know right now is that those who had sources claiming the season was canceled were either wrong or the Big Ten has changed from that stance.

Stay tuned.
