The Auburn Tigers are preparing for their matchup with the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday evening. In their last game with Jacksonville State Gamecocks, both Walker Kessler and Jaylin Williams suffered injuries.
Kessler would return to the game after a gash on his right arm. Williams would miss the remainder of the game after chipping his front teeth. The status of one of Bruce Pearl’s key bench players remained in doubt as he was listed as questionable. Going into the Round of 32 matchup, it appears that Williams will be good to go in this one.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports tweeted that Williams “should be good to go” against Miami.
This season Williams has averaged 5.4 points per game this season in a reduced role. The additions of Kessler and Jabari Smith have reduced his role but he has still given the Tigers production off the bench when called upon.
Pearl provided an update on Saturday night after practice. “Jaylin Williams practiced today,” Pearl said. “He had some dental repair work done yesterday afternoon. He was evaluated last night and this morning with the concussion protocol. He passed. Doctors let him move around, and he wasn’t bothered by it today in practice. We’ll see if there’s any residual effect later on tonight, then we’ll check him again tonight and tomorrow morning.”
Auburn and Miami are set for tip off at 6:45 p.m. CT on TRUtv.
