UNLV EDGE Fisher Camac is a name to watch for Washington

Washington should take a look at UNLV’s standout pass rusher for additional depth.

Since the transfer portal opened, the Washington Huskies have seen three edge rushers depart from the roster. As Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff searches for one more player to add depth to the position, UNLV’s Fisher Camac is a name the coaching staff should be keeping a close eye on.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound defensive lineman, who is originally from Arizona, was extremely disruptive in the Mountain West in 2024. The redshirt sophomore, who will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next landing spot, recorded 47 tackles, 15 for loss, and 7.5 sacks during his breakout campaign.

His impressive season was capped off with a 6 tackle, 3 sack performance against the California Golden Bears in the LA Bowl before he announced his intentions to enter the portal, where he has generated plenty of interest from Power 4 programs.

If Camac were to choose Washington, he could be a versatile piece of new defensive coordinator Ryan Walters’ scheme, which implores more five-man fronts. He has a relentless motor and the ideal size and strength to set the edge against the run while also the pass rush skill set and athleticism to get after the quarterback.

The coaching staff also brought in Arizona transfer Ta’ita’i Uiagaleilei on the edge, who should help add much-needed strength to the position after the Huskies allowed 161.8 rushing yards per game last season.

In order to compete in the Big Ten, Washington will need to find better ways to hold strong against the run and collapse the pocket, and Camac looks like the ideal piece to add to complete the Huskies’ defensive line.
