Universal Hollywood’s Super Nintendo World has an opening date at last

Super Nintendo World Hollywood opens the Mushroom Kingdom’s gates – and the first Nintendo theme park – early in 2023

After months of teases and tantalizing looks at the Tokyo branch, we have a Super Nintendo World opening date for the Universal Hollywood park at last. On Twitter, Nintendo announced the park will open its gates on Feb. 17, 2023, and released a brief trailer showing a bit of what to expect from the Nintendo theme park.

Like its Tokyo counterpart, the main attraction at the Hollywood Super Nintendo World is its Mario Kart battle ride, where players hop in karts (but of course) and use digital versions of classic Mario Kart items, including the blue shell and banana peels, as they battle it out against Bowser and other foes.

Elsewhere in the park, you can look forward to using your special park bracelet to interact with a range of Mario attractions, from rides to other interactive elements scattered around the kingdom, and earn coins in the process.

You’ll have to shell out real cash at the park’s merchandise store and Mushroom Kingdom cafe if you want to leave with a souvenir or take a gastric tour of Peach’s domain.

Bear in mind the February date is only for the Universal Hollywood park. There’s still no opening date for the Universal Orlando Super Nintendo World location.

If you’re after even more Mario outside the Nintendo Switch, you won’t have much longer to wait. Nintendo and Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. Movie releases in April 2023.
