Marvel Snap is a huge new card game from the minds behind Hearthstone that showcases a range of Marvel characters. Much like Capcom’s Teppen, Marvel Snap has been incredibly well received, and players have been enjoying collecting and battling with their cards.
But one particular card has a description and effect that has had players questioning things. That’s right, it’s the Uncle Ben card.

For anyone that isn’t a Spider-Man fan, Uncle Ben is Peter Parker’s uncle, whose death acts as a catalyst for Peter becoming a hero. Ben passed on the line “With great power comes great responsibility,” and it’s this mantra that inspires the Spider-Man we know and love today.
As an essential character to the Spider-Man universe, it’s only natural that Uncle Ben gets his own card. But nobody expected the effect it has.
This is one of the most hilariously foul cards I have seen in my life. pic.twitter.com/ohADJ7rO7w

Uncle Ben’s card reads as follows: “When this card is destroyed, add Spider-Man to your hand.”
So, yes, canonically, it is Uncle Ben’s death that inspires the heroic rise of Spider-Man, and therefore this description makes perfect sense, but with that context in mind, the card seems either a little insensitive or absolutely hilarious, depending on your sensibilities.
Needless to say, if you’re using a deck that utilizes Spider-Man heavily, an Uncle Ben card or two will help your deck become powerful.
Marvel Snap has seen huge success since launch, and players have been adoring the simple yet engaging battle system. It takes obvious cues from Hearthstone, but in this early state it’s much easier to build a competitive deck and play online than it is in Hearthstone.
If you want to start playing Marvel Snap, we recommend starting out with one of our Marvel Snap beginner decks.
