While UNC’s offense was clicking on Saturday night led by Drake Maye’s recording setting game, wide receiver [autotag]Josh Downs[/autotag] suffered a minor injury in the game.
The Tar Heels were ahead by multiple scores in the game when Downs scored his 27-yard touchdown, so it didn’t seem like a huge deal when he banged his knee coming down with the catch. But after the game, Downs was spotted in the locker room with a bag of ice on his knee.
So how serious is the injury?
Brad Crawford of 247Sports wrote on the injury, sourcing Inside Carolina’s report after the game. Per the report, Downs injury isn’t anything serious and he told Inside Carolina that it’s just a little bruise:
“I’m straight, it’s just a little bruise” Downs said, via Inside Carolina.
That’s a sigh of relief for UNC fans.
Anytime you see your star receiver go down with an injury, it’s never a good thing. But in this case, it does appear that Downs is okay and probably won’t miss time as a big game looms on Saturday in Week 1 at Appalachian State.
Downs finished the game with 9 receptions for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns.
