The UNC football program will likely get its best player on offense back on the field for Saturday’s showdown with Notre Dame in Chapel Hill.
After missing the previous two games with a leg injury, wide receiver [autotag]Josh Downs[/autotag] is reportedly on track to play against the Fighting Irish as he will return to practice this week.
Matt Zenitz of On3 is reporting that Downs is ‘on track’ to make his return here in Week 4 for the Tar Heels, some good news for Phil Longo’s offense as they look to go 4-0 to start the 2022 season. On Monday, Mack Brown confirmed that Downs would return to practice this week:
North Carolina star wide receiver Josh Downs, who missed UNC’s last two games with an injury, is on track to being available for the Tar Heels’ game against Notre Dame on Saturday, sources tell @On3sports

UNC injury updates: OT Spencer Rolland, DT Myles Murphy are back; WR Josh Downs, RB Caleb Hood, WR Antoine Green will be evaluated during the week

The Tar Heels will evaluate Downs throughout the week and monitor his situation. But barring any setback, it does appear as if the Tar Heels will get their best weapon back for the first time since Week 1.
