UNC women’s basketball stays put in AP Poll

The North Carolina women’s basketball program remains ranked No. 24 on this week’s Associated Press poll.

The North Carolina women’s basketball team will enter the 2024 year ranked in the AP Top 25 poll.

After beating Oklahoma 61-52 at the Jump Man Invitational, UNC remains ranked at No. 24, as they turn their attention to conference play for the remainder of the regular season. The Tar Heels have had their battles in non-conference play with some juggernaut defensive performances but failed to get the job done against ranked opponents.

Despite not beating any of the ranked opponents they’ve faced, they were able to pick up some moral victory by giving No. 1 South Carolina their toughest game yet, showing they can compete with the nation’s best program.

UNC will host the Clemson Tigers on New Year’s Eve, with big games on their schedule for January, playing No. 13 Notre Dame, No. 22 FSU, and No. 19 Louisville in a two-week span.
