UNC wing D’Marco Dunn enters transfer portal

UNC basketball sophomore guard D’Marco Dunn has entered the transfer portal.

With the transfer portal window for winter athletes closing Thursday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels’ basketball program suffered another departure.

Wing D’Marco Dunn officially entered the transfer portal per a report from Inside Carolina. He is the seventh player from UNC’s roster to enter the portal after a disappointing 2022-23 season.

The former four-star recruit committed to North Carolina as part of the 2021 recruiting class along with Dontrez Styles. But after two seasons at North Carolina, both are moving on to new programs.

Dunn appeared in 50 total games, including 27 last season for North Carolina. He averaged 2.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game last season, but struggled to find a role off the bench.

With UNC adding Cormac Ryan to the mix plus potentially adding Elliot Cadeau as well as welcoming in Simeon Wilcher, the depth chart provided a clear picture for Dunn.

He joins Caleb Love, Puff Johnson, Dontrez Styles, Tyler Nickel, Justin McKoy, and Will Shaver as UNC players who have entered the transfer portal.
