The UNC basketball program completed a 2-0 week to open up the 2022 season last week, beating UNC-Wilmington and College of Charleston.
While UNC did get off to slow starts in both games, they turned it on in the second half to avoid big upsets. With the 2-0 start, the Tar Heels kept its No. 1 ranking in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The new rankings were released on Monday with UNC ahead of No. 2 Gonzaga, No. 3 Houston, No. 4 Kentucky, and No. 5 Baylor. UNC received 44 first-place votes while Gonzaga had 14, Houston 2, and Kentucky 3.
As for the ACC, Duke checked in at No. 7, and Virginia at No. 16.
