North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye has made it official. Maye announced via social media that he is giving up his remaining college eligibility and going to enter the 2024 NFL draft.
“Thank you, Coach Brown, for the opportunity to live out my dream of playing quarterback in Carolina Blue,” Maye said in his post. “To the rest of the coaching staff and support staff, thank you for the countless hours of helping me along the way.”
Maye figures to be a top-10 overall pick, perhaps as high as No. 1 overall. He’ll be in the competition for the top QB with LSU’s Jayden Daniels and USC’s Caleb Williams.

He’s coming off a 2023 campaign where Maye saw his completion percentage dip slightly from a fantastic 2022. Maye had a lesser supporting cast, especially with the eligibility and injury travails of presumed top WR Tez Walker.
