UNC offer for 2025 five-star recruit was ‘big’

This five-star recruit talked about his recent offer from the UNC basketball program, calling it a ‘big’ one.

The 2025 recruiting board is starting to take shape for the North Carolina Tar Heels as they continue to scout future prospects for the program. Just last week, UNC offered two prospects in the 2025 class bringing the total up to three offers.

And among the prospects that landed an offer was five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson.

The Ohio native caught the attention of Hubert Davis and the UNC staff last weekend on the AAU circuit and his play earned an offer from the Tar Heels shortly after. With Peterson back in action this weekend, he had the chance to catch up with reporters and talk the latest on his recruitment.

In an interview with Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports, Peterson revealed that the offer from UNC was ‘big’ for him:

North Carolina: “I got that offer during Chapter I and that was big. They talked to my dad. It was a great feeling but I have to stay focused. They like to play in the screen and roll game. They also breed one and dones.”

Peterson went on to also talk about Duke, Michigan and Kentucky in the interview.

The recruit is ranked No. 6 nationally, No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He plans on lining up visits soon including one to North Carolina.
