If you plan to play as the North Carolina Tar Heels in EA Sports College Football 25, you will have one of the top defenses in the game.
On Thursday, EA Sports continued its rankings week by revealing the top 25 defenses in the game. Cracking that top 25 list are the North Carolina Tar Heels who are ranked No. 23 on the list, which is a little surprising.
North Carolina’s ranking is a bit surprising to those who have watched the team over the past few years. They are coming off a season in which they fired Gene Chizik as defensive coordinator and hired Geoff Collins to take over.

Per the rankings above, UNC’s defense is also ranked fifth-best in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind No. 5 Clemson, No. 11 Florida State, No. 14 Virginia Tech and No. 22 Louisville.
UNC does return some talent on defense with Kaimon Rucker, Power Echols, and Travis Shaw among others. But is it enough to warrant an 84 overall rating in the game? Maybe the Collins hire will impact the defense more than some think.
EA Sports College Football 25 will release on July 19th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S.
