While the North Carolina Tar Heels lost some firepower on offense, they do return a few playmakers for quarterback Drake Maye. And among them is tight end Bryson Nesbit.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end is coming off an impressive 2022 campaign in which he caught 35 receptions for 507 yards and 4 touchdowns in UNC’s offense. The play earned him a spot as Honorable Mention All-ACC.
Now, going into the 2023 season, Nesbit is earning some praise.
College Sports Wire released its list of the best tight ends in college football and checking in at No. 5 is Nesbit. Here is what Patrick Conn had to say about Nesbit’s ranking:
Nesbit is a massive target for Drake Maye and the Tar Heels offense. He stands in at 6-foot-6-inches and gives them some huge plays down the field and up the seams. With the loss of Josh Downs, one should figure that they look to their big tight end more often in the upcoming season until a major wide receiver target emerges.
Nesbit checks in as the second-best tight end in the Atlantic Coast Conference on the list, behind only Orande Gadson of Syracuse.
As we go into 2023, Nesbit is expected to have another big role as a go-to guy for Maye. And if he delivers, he can have a big 2023 season that should boost his draft stock.
