UNC football still not ranked in AP Top 25

The UNC football program was left out of the Associated Press Top 25 poll despite a 5-1 record.

Saturday’s win over Miami moved UNC to 5-1 on the year and 2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. It also moved them into the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll which was released on Sunday, coming in at No. 25.

However, the Associated Press still has UNC on the outside looking in.

The latest AP Top 25 poll was released on Sunday and UNC checked in at No. 26 overall in the poll with James Madison moving up to No. 25 and taking the final spot. Illinois also jumped into the poll at No. 24.

While UNC did make the USA TODAY Sports poll, getting into the AP poll would have been nice as well. Especially with a showdown against Duke looming next weekend.

In all, there are four ACC teams in the poll with Clemson, Wake Forest, NC State and Syracuse taking those spots. The Tar Heels have both the Demon Deacons and Wolfpack on their schedule.
