UNC football stays put in updated ESPN recruiting rankings

Here is where the UNC football 2024 recruiting class ranks on ESPN’s updated rankings.

The recruiting cycle continues on for the 2024 college football class as we hit July. And as the calendar was flipped over, ESPN released its updated recruiting rankings for the cycle.

Mack Brown and North Carolina have a total of 21 commitments so far in the 2024 class, including ending the month of June strong. They still have some big targets left and a big month of July would really help their overall ranking.

But as of right now, North Carolina’s class stayed put at No. 19 in ESPN’s rankings with just 1 commitment inside the top 300:

ACC rank: 3 of 14
Top offensive commit: RB Davion Gause (No. 299)
Top defensive commit: ATH Khalil Conley (four stars)

In the 2022 season, the Tar Heels’ leading rusher was their quarterback. While they have some young promising talent at running back, they continue to work to bolster the backfield with the addition of Davion Gause, a thickly built and powerful runner who can carry the load and generate big plays, running for over 1,000 yards as a junior at Chaminade-Madonna in Florida. To further propel their ground game, North Carolina has quickly added multiple offensive linemen, including a pair of high three-stars out of Georgia in Andrew Rosinski and Aidan Banfield. It continues to do well close to home and has landed in-state four-star ATH Khalil Conley, who projects to the secondary.

North Carolina’s ranking in the Atlantic Coast Conference is third behind only No. 9 Clemson and No. 15 Florida State.

As mentioned above, UNC still has a few targets left to decide so this class could get better by the time it’s all said and done.
