The North Carolina Tar Heels have had an active few weeks with the transfer portal, seeing their fair share of departures. The program has also targeted players in the portal, hoping to recoup some talent.
One player that North Carolina has its eyes on is former North Texas offensive tackle Howard Sampson.
The tackle was recently on North Carolina’s campus for a visit and now we have some intel on how it went. In Adam Gorney’s latest on Rivals, the reporter looks at visits that players in the portal have taken or will take in the near future.
And he talked about Sampson, calling the Tar Heels a ‘front-runner’ to land him:
North Carolina has to be considered a front-runner for the North Texas offensive line transfer as Sampson absolutely loved his visit to Chapel Hill in recent days. From coach Mack Brown to position coach Randy Clements, to how the program has a family-oriented feel, it all stood out to Sampson and played a huge role. Others are involved but it wouldn’t be a shock to see him with the Tar Heels.
That’s good news for North Carolina who is looking to revamp the offensive line this offseason.
Sampson has become a priority target for Mack Brown and his staff this offseason and it sounds like they are in great shape to land him as it stands right now.
