Monday has been a busy day for the UNC football program and the transfer portal and that was expected. Just a few days after the team ended the regular season with a loss at NC State, four players have now entered the portal.
And it’s the third player on the offensive side of the ball.
Running back Elijah Green was the latest player to enter the portal, becoming the fourth overall to do so. The running back will enter as a graduate transfer after spending the past four seasons, playing in 27 games.
Green was once North Carolina’s starting running back, rushing for 8 touchdowns and 558 yards during 2022. But in 2023 he fell behind on the depth chart with Omarion Hampton, British Brooks and Caleb Hood ahead of him.

Green did appear in a few games this season before opting to redshirt.
With North Carolina having depth at the position, it makes sense for Green to pursue an opportunity elsewhere.
