Sunday was filled with both good and bad news for Mack Brown and the UNC football program in terms of the 2024 recruiting class.
Before four-star wide receiver Jordan Shipp pledged his commitment to the Tar Heels, the team lost a commitment. Three-star athlete Carlos Mitchell Jr. took to Twitter on Sunday to reveal that he is decommitting from North Carolina and is reopening his recruitment.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound recruit committed to North Carolina on June 11th, giving them a good defensive back commitment. But just over a month later, he has changed his mind and will be seeking a new home.

Mitchell Jr. has a total of 19 offers in his recruitment but took one visit, which was to Chapel Hill on June 9th. The Tar Heels secured the commitment a few days after.
With the addition of Shipp and the loss of Mitchell Jr., UNC now has 23 commitments in the 2024 class which ranks in the top 25 on the 247Sports rankings.
