UNC football lands safety in 2024 recruiting class

The UNC football program has landed three-star safety Jalon Thompson on Friday afternoon.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program are on a roll in terms of recruiting for the 2024 class.

After finishing off the month of June strong with some commitments, the Tar Heels are carrying that momentum here in June. And on Friday, the Tar Heels added another piece to the 2024 class with a commitment.

Three-star safety Jalon Thompson pledged his verbal commitment to the Tar Heels, becoming the 23rd player overall and sixth defensive back to join the class. The Orlando, Florida native took visits to both UCF and UNC in June and was set to also visit Pitt. However, after visiting the Tar Heels he made his decision and is joining Brown’s program in Chapel Hill.

The 6-foot, 170-pound safety is ranked No. 641 nationally, the No. 63 safety and No. 93 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He had a total of 32 offers in his recruitment before picking the Tar Heels.

With Thompson’s addition, UNC’s 2024 class ranks 18th overall.
