Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program received some good news on Friday afternoon.
Three-star running back Demon June pledged his verbal commitment to North Carolina, giving the Tar Heels a big running back commit in the 2025 class. The Jacksonville, North Carolina native announced during a ceremony at his high school on Friday, just a few weeks after UNC officially offered the running back.
June picked UNC over offers from East Carolina, Appalachian State, UConn, Ohio, Old Dominion, Toledo, James Madison and Georgia Southern. He took visits to East Carolina and Georgia Southern as well but in the end it was the Tar Heels that won out in this recruitment.

The 5-foot-11, 225-pound June is ranked as the No. 96 running back and the No. 30 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
By landing June, North Carolina now has 14 recruits in their 2025 class which ranks 50th in the nation. They still have some big targets left on the board and it’s a class that should get better.
