Bill Belichick hasn’t been on the job for a week yet and already he’s making an impact with North Carolina’s football roster.
On Tuesday, the Tar Heels added their second commitment out of the transfer portal as defensive lineman Melkart Abou-Jaoude committed to the program after he took a visit on Friday. His commitment comes a day after the Tar Heels landed Holy Cross offensive lineman Christo Kelly.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive lineman had interest from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, and Pitt after entering the transfer portal on December 2nd.
He finished last season with 24 tackles, with 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 11 starts for Delaware. That performance earned him honorable mention on the all-conference team.

With North Carolina having a big need on the defensive line, they are prioritizing guys in that area. So far, they have one commitment on the defensive line with Abou-Jaoude and it’s a good start to transfer portal season for Belichick and the Tar Heels.
