The North Carolina Tar Heels opened up the 2023 college football season with a statement. The 31-17 win over South Carolina on Saturday night was headlined by a dominant defensive performance, allowing just three second-half points.
Overall, the Tar Heels controlled the game in the second half despite having to fight off two Gamecocks’ comeback attempts. UNC was able to shut the door on the Gamecocks and secure the win, moving to 1-0 on the year.
For Mack Brown, it was his 100th win at North Carolina and the first this season of what we hope is many more.
It’s only one game but it was a great start for the Tar Heels as they now get set to head home and face off against Appalachian State and Minnesota before opening up Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Before we look too far ahead this season, we need to give out our helmet stickers for the Week 1 win in Charlotte.
