Two North Carolina Tar Heels commits in the 2024 class were invited to try out for the USA Basketball U19 Team this week in Colorado Springs, hoping to earn a spot on the team. But after a few days of practice, the first set of cuts trimmed the list down to 18 and only one made that cut.
Five-star shooting guard Ian Jackson was one of the 18 to make the first cut, taking a step forward to making the team.
Jackson was one of six high school players to make the initial cut as he looks to keep the momentum going at the tryouts:

Jackson’s future UNC teammate, Drake Powell, also participated but did not survive the initial cut.
The initial 35 were trimmed to 18 and that list will be cut down to 12 finalists that will compete in the 2023 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup. That event will take place June 24-July 2 in Debrecen, Hungary.
