North Carolina five-star commit Ian Jackson is the highest-ranked recruit in the Tar Heels’ 2024 class, which is ranked No. 1 overall in the cycle.
Jackson committed to North Carolina earlier in 2023 and since then has really impressed with a big junior year of high school followed up by the AAU circuit. For Jackson’s efforts this Summer, he’s being praised and it’s good news for the Tar Heels.
Rivals reporter Jason Jordan wrote on five prospects that dazzled this past Summer which included Jackson:
We highlighted Jackson’s abilities as an elite point guard last week after watching him at the Elite 24, but he put on a scoring clinic at SLAM’s Summer Classic last weekend. Jackson pumped in 45 points and took home MVP honors in NYC. He was virtually unguardable for the entire game, using his unique blend of size, shiftiness, quickness and elite ball handling ability to maneuver past defenders at will. Jackson’s athleticism is nothing new, but he’s taken strides as a playmaker with the IQ to make the right reads in given situations. As it stands, Jackson checks in at No. 8 overall in the Rivals150.
Jackson has been really good over the past year, showcasing his talents on the AAU circuit and all-star games. Most recently, Jackson was named the MVP of the SLAM Summer Classic as he looks to take that momentum into his senior year.
