Five-star prospect Ian Jackson is North Carolina’s highest-ranked recruit in the class of 2024, and Hubert Davis and his staff have the No. 1 class for that cycle.
Jackson has developed into not only one of the best guards in the class but also one of the best players. His hot play continued this past weekend.
Jackson participated in the Southern Jam Fest in Hampton, Virginia, and was named a standout for his play. Rivals’ Jason Jordan wrote on Jackson as one of 10 standouts from the event:
Jackson brought his trademark blend of speed, athleticism, elite IQ and three-level scoring ability to Virginia in a big way. No one was able to keep him out of the lane when he attacked, and he made masterful reads once he got into the paint, whether it was kicking it out to a teammate or finishing at the rim.
The North Carolina commit unleashed the full repertoire.
Despite rumors Jackson would reclassify into 2023 and that he would eventually decommit from UNC and head to St. John’s, the plan for the talented player is to stay in the 2024 class. That’s huge for Davis and the Tar Heels, who are getting a big-time recruit for the future of the program.
