The transfer portal window for winter athletics officially closed on May 11th, ending a very active window. With the portal closed, rosters are starting to take shape for the 2023-24 college basketball season, including the North Carolina Tar Heels.
For the most part, the majority of the top players in the transfer portal have committed to new programs with a few exceptions. But as we move forward into the offseason, 247Sports has released its final rankings of the top 150 players in the transfer portal.
For North Carolina, they added four players headlined by Harrison Ingram who checked in at No. 25 on the list:
Stats: 10.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3.7 APG; 2 years of eligibility remaining
Harrison Ingram is one of the several of former McDonald’s All Americans to have hit the portal this season.
He’s a small ball four man who is at his best when operating as a glue guy with his ability to rebound, push the break and pass the basketball.
He’s not the best scorer nor has he developed his jumper but he can be a solid piece with his ability to impact the game in various ways for the Tar Heels next season.
The only other player on the list in the top 150 that committed to UNC was Jae’Lyn Withers at No. 137 overall.
Time will tell if the transfer portal makes UNC a winner or not but it’s clear Hubert Davis has at least tried to fix the issues they had a year ago.
