UNC basketball transfer already impressing Hubert Davis

An incoming UNC basketball transfer is already impressing Hubert Davis as the head coach had praise for this guard.

The North Carolina Tar Heels saw a record amount of players enter the transfer portal this offseason, saying goodbye to eight players in total.

For Hubert Davis and his staff, losing that many players cause for a turnover on the roster and improvement needed. The Tar Heels were able to add five players through the transfer portal in hopes of turning this thing around and getting back to the NCAA Tournament.

While we haven’t seen what this group of five can do on the court together just yet, one player is impressing Davis off the court.

In his Summer press conference with the media, Davis was asked about former Notre Dame guard Cormac Ryan who opted to transfer to UNC, and his answer was filled with high praise.

“Probably the biggest area that I didn’t know, really I shouldn’t know since I wasn’t his coach, is how much of a leader he is,” Davis said. “He’s a gatherer. He’s a vocal leader in the locker room, on the court, off the court, and just brings teammates together.”

That’s certainly great news to hear.

Ryan spent a year at Stanford before four years at Notre Dame and then deciding to transfer for his fifth and final season of college basketball. With a chance to come in and earn key minutes at North Carolina, Ryan made that decision to join the Tar Heels and the hope is that he can add some improvement to this roster.
