Sunday’s loss at NC State was the fifth in the last six games for the UNC basketball program. And for a team that was already on the wrong side of the bubble, it might be a back-breaking loss for the Tar Heels.
UNC entered that game as one of the first four out, team No. 69 in Joe Lunardi’s bracket going into that weekend. Despite the loss, the Tar Heels didn’t move down.
Lunardi released a small update to his bracketology ahead of Monday’s games with a Twitter post highlighting the key games. We were surprised to see North Carolina still No. 69.

The argument is this is a game UNC was going to lose; NC State was favored. Going into this stretch of five games, the Tar Heels had to go 4-1 and avoid losses to Florida State and Notre Dame along the way.
They still have that opportunity, but they need to beat both Virginia and Duke at home to feel safe.
