The North Carolina Tar Heels have yet to land a commitment in the 2025 recruiting class but Hubert Davis and his staff will have the chance to seal the deal on some prospects in the coming weeks.
That includes four-star combo guard Derek Dixon.
The Gonzaga, DC product is set to visit UNC this weekend for an official visit, taking in Chapel Hill and the program. And now, it sounds like he will make his decision a few weeks after that.
In an interview with Zag’s Blog, Dixon recapped his visit to Vanderbilt and talked about his recruitment as he still has visits to UNC and Arizona left on the docket. He mentioned in the article that he is targeting September 27th as the date to make his decision:
Dixon told ZAGSBLOG he doesn’t plan on going back to any of his top schools and will make a decision at the end of the month after his two remaining officials.
“Sept. 27 is the date I was thinking,” Dixon said of a commitment timeline.
There hasn’t been a favorite mentioned for Dixon but it’s hard not to imagine UNC or Arizona being one of the favorites down the stretch.
The Tar Heels will have the chance to impress Dixon and hopefully land a commitment shortly after. It would be good start for Davis’ 2025 class.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Dixon is ranked No. 60 nationally, the No. 11 combo guard and No. 3 player in DC per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
