For months, the North Carolina Tar Heels 2024 recruiting class has been ranked No. 1 in the rankings after having a four-man class. With the departure of Elliot Cadeau, UNC has still managed to keep the top class and that’s in big part to a rising prospect.
Five-star forward Drake Powell has seen his stock skyrocket since committing to the Tar Heels in September of 2022. Since then, Powell worked himself into the top 25 and earned a fifth star on 247 Sports.
And now in 247Sports’ latest update for the 2024 class, Powell has shot all the way up into the top 10.
Powell is ranked No. 9 in the updated 2024 rankings by 247Sports which were released on Thursday. After months of evaluations from the end of the high school season to the Spring AAU sessions, the experts have released their latest list.
For Powell, this is the highest he’s ever been ranked by 247Sports, a great sign for the future of UNC’s program.
Joining Powell on the list is UNC commit Ian Jackson who is ranked No. 5 and center James Brown who falls to No. 88.
UNC does have an open spot in the class now with Cadeau reclassifying and it will be interesting to see if Hubert Davis and his staff pursue more talent to what is already an impressive class.
