With Bob Huggins resigning from the West Virginia basketball program, Mountaineers players have had to decide whether to stay with the program or enter the transfer portal.
Center Mohamed Wague entered the transfer portal to find a new home this summer. He’s already drawing significant interest from teams, including North Carolina.
Per 24/7 High School Hoops, North Carolina has been in contact with Wague in the portal as it seeks to add depth at the center position for the 2023-24 season.
UNC is one of 19 teams in contact. That list includes Kansas State, Alabama, Oregon, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Georgetown and Cal.
West Virginia forward Mohamed Wague told me he’s heard from these schools since hitting the portal yesterday:

The 6-foot-9, 195-pound center averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game last season.
With Armando Bacot and Jalen Washington returning, there’s still room in the post for the Tar Heels to add. Wague is an intriguing option for the Tar Heels and we will have to see if they explore this possibility even more.
