UNC basketball program to get visit from a top center prospect

Here is when Malachi Moreno will visit the UNC basketball program.

North Carolina’s pursuit of four-star center Malachi Moreno will increase over the next few months as the program has landed a visit with the talented recruit.

Per Inside Carolina, Moreno will be visiting UNC’s campus this Fall, scheduling the visit for September 14th. That’s the same weekend that UNC target Braylon Mullins will be on campus for his visit:

Great Crossing head coach Steve Page confirmed to Inside Carolina that Moreno will be in Chapel Hill for an official stay on Sept. 14. That means Moreno will be visiting UNC the same weekend as his AAU teammate, Indiana shooting guard Braylon Mullins.

North Carolina has shown interest in Moreno for months now but just recently offered back in May, officially putting their name in the race to land the recruit. Since then, UNC has kept tabs on Moreno with Sean May being the primary recruiter.

UNC spent time watching Moreno last week during the open evaluation period and the AAU cycle getting going again. It’s clear that the Tar heels are prioritizing him as their big man for the future.

But they will have to beat out in-state Kentucky in this recruitment and getting a visit is a good first step.
