Last season was a complete disaster for the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program. After entering the year as the preseason number one team and a favorite to cut down the nets, the Tar Heels failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.
They made history by failing to get to the NCAA Tournament and now, the new-look Tar Heels are hoping to dance again this March. Hubert Davis’ team will look a lot different, losing three starters overall plus other players as they were hit hard with transfers. But they did add some talent in the transfer portal and welcomed in a two-player recruiting class for 2023.
While some aren’t high on the Tar Heels, on analyst believes they can be a dark horse this season.
Andy Katz revealed his top 10 teams to be a dark horse to reach the Final Four and at No. 1 overall are the Tar Heels:

North Carolina is the only ACC program on the list, checking in at No. 1 overall. It’s a little surprising seeing how they finished this year and the fact that no one is really giving them a chance.
But as we mentioned earlier, they have some key additions and do welcome back R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot. Will it be another special season in Chapel Hill?
