UNC basketball moves up in updated CBS Sports Top 25 and 1

Here is where the UNC basketball program ranks in the updated CBS Sports Top 25 and 1.

The deadline to stay or withdraw from the NBA draft has officially passed and the rosters for college programs have become more clear as we enter summer. With that deadline past and the transfer portal closed, CBS Sports has updated its Top 25 and 1 list.

Gary Parrish released his rankings last week with a good amount of movement. The rankings are based on the rosters as they stand.

North Carolina moved up from No. 24 to No. 22 after adding a four-man transfer class and a three-man 2023 class that includes Elliot Cadeau. Here is what Parrish had to say about UNC:

This ranking is based on the Tar Heels returning two of the top three scorers — R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot — from a team that spent much of the season ranked in the top 30 at KenPom.com. The addition of Harrison Ingram, Cormac Ryan and Jae’Lyn Withers via the transfer portal, and five-star prospect Elliot Cadeau via reclassification, should provide Hubert Davis with enough to return to the 2024 NCAA Tournament after UNC missed it in 2023.

The Tar Heels should be better than they were last season, and it would be shocking to see them miss the tournament again.

The roster will look a lot different with only R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot being the only two starters returning. But there is a great deal of talent on this team, and it’s up to Hubert Davis to get the most out of it.
