The North Carolina Tar Heels have seen their fair share of moves in the transfer portal over the past month and a half. Hubert Davis has lost six players to the portal but has also added four to his roster with the headliner being Harrison Ingram.
For North Carolina, it’s very important to reload this roster after missing out on the 2023 NCAA Tournament. And so far, they have done a good job of that, addressing spots of need.
The addition of Ingram not only gives the Tar Heels a legit wing to play with R.J. Davis and Armando Bacot but it also moved them up in the 247Sports transfer portal team rankings. UNC climbed up to No. 5 after the addition of Ingram, and are now sitting at 27.50 points in the system.
West Virginia took the top spot in the rankings followed by Gonzaga, Arkansas, and TCU. Fellow ACC program NC State is at No. 6 while Georgia Tech is at 7 and Syracuse is at 9.
Now, this could be a blessing for UNC or it could go the other way.
We have seen UNC find success with a player like Brady Manek but they have also had a few misses along the way as well. Time will tell how Davis and the staff did but for now, it’s a promising start.
