The UNC basketball program will have a third departure in the transfer portal in less than a week since the season ended.
Per Joe Tipton of On3, Kinston native Dontrez Styles is expected to enter the transfer portal and find a new program to continue his college career. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward was a four-star recruit as part of UNC’s two-man 2021 recruiting class.
He played in 30 games in his freshman season, averaging 5.8 minutes per game for Hubert Davis. In 2022-23, he appeared in just 15 games and averaged 5.9 minutes per game. He missed time in December with a broken bone in his hand, but it felt like Styles fell down the pecking order in terms of Davis’ bench rotation.

He joins Tyler Nickel and Justin McKoy as UNC players to enter the transfer portal after a disappointing season.
