UNC basketball falls in updated Bracketology ahead of Virginia game

Here is where the UNC basketball program stands ahead of the big Saturday afternoon showdown against Virginia.

The UNC basketball program has a big opportunity ahead of them on Saturday afternoon as they host Virginia in the Dean Dome. With just three games remaining, the Tar Heels really need to stack as many wins as possible.

And Saturday is the chance to get a very important Quad 1 win.

The Tar Heels find themselves on the wrong side of the bubble entering this game, going from in the tournament two weeks ago to the first team out and now falling down the pecking order.

In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, he has UNC moving down from team No. 69 to No. 70. Penn State and Utah State both jumped the Tar Heels after the Nittany Lions won on Thursday and the Aggies earlier in the week.

The last four in teams include Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, USC, and Mississippi State.

It’s clear that North Carolina has work to do in the final three games and getting that win over Virginia would really help their cause. Pending what others do ahead of them, it could vault the Tar Heels back into the field.

UNC also has games left on the road at Florida State on Monday and then a week from Saturday they host Duke.
