The high school basketball season isn’t officially over just yet; the State Champions Invitational is taking place this weekend. Teams that won state titles across the country are competing, bringing some of the nation’s top talent to McDonough Arena at Georgetown University.
It didn’t take long for a North Carolina commit to make his mark.
Class of 2023 guard Simeon Wilcher had a big first game, scoring 29 total points for Roselle Catholic in its 84-82 win over Curtis. That included a big first half with 15 points. He even had this big dunk that caught the eyes of “SportsCenter”:

Wilcher’s big performance helped Roselle Catholic; Wilcher is 17-0 in the postseason games in his career with the school.
The 6-foot-4, 165-pound guard was the first player to commit to North Carolina, doing so back in October 2021. He’s rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and is the No. 38 prospect in the 2023 class.
UNC fans will not have to wait long to see Wilcher in the Dean Dome. He’s scheduled to arrive this summer. If he continues to play like this, he could have an instant impact for the Tar Heels in the 2023-24 season.
