The 2023 college baseball season has come to a close as LSU captured its seventh title by beating Florida 2-1 in the three-game College World Series final.
As we get set for a long offseason, Scott Forbes and the North Carolina baseball program are already adding to the roster. Earlier this week, Forbes’ team earned a commitment out of the transfer portal when Elon pitcher Shea Sprague committed to the Tar Heels.
The left-handed pitcher out of Massachusetts was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year after 10 starts in 2022. He followed that up with another good performance in 2023 and is now looking to take his game to the next level.
Left-handed pitcher Shea Sprague (Hanover/BC High’21) is transferring from Elon to North Carolina.
Sprague was an All-CAA first team selection in 2022 and had a 2.69 ERA over 15 starts in 2023

For North Carolina, they add to a pitching staff that really struggled at times last season. Getting better in that area should be the big goal for Forbes moving forward and if they can fix it, UNC should be that much better next season.
