With news that seven Atlantic Coast Conference programs are potentially looking for a way out and move on, it’s becoming clear that the ‘Magnificient 7’ understand the value they bring to the table.
The conference does have some big money makers in terms of programs that are comparable to others across the country but when looking at brand value through TV and social media, one team stands out among the others.
The North Carolina Tar Heels.
Per David Bradley, North Carolina’s brand revenue generated by TV and social media for football and men’s basketball the past two years is at $582.9M. That beats out Clemson ($432.6M), Duke ($427.4M), and Miami ($381.6M).

UNC: $582.9M
Clemson: $432.6M
Duke: $427.4M
Miami: $381.6M
FSU: $347.2M

With North Carolina historically being a big brand plus having the backing of Jordan Brand, this really shouldn’t be shocking to Tar Heels’ fans. Men’s basketball does bring in the most for the Tar Heels but overall, football is king in the ACC as you can see with the $1.4B total.
The Tar Heels are a brand that other conferences will seek out if they do leave the ACC and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Big Ten and SEC battle it out for them.
