Currently, you won’t find any Ultra Beasts in Pokémon GO, but they could make their debut at GO Fest 2022 – an official teaser seems to confirm rumors of this nature.
Developer Niantic published a short teaser on Twitter on Tuesday, which showed the first Ultra Beast in the form of Nihilego. The monster, also known as UB-01 Symbiont, belongs to the Rock and Poison types. The video also shows a mysterious background reminiscent of a wormhole. This also fits the Ultra Beasts, as these are Pokémon from other worlds and dimensions that randomly appeared in wormholes in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Finally, the teaser shows a uniform of the Ultra Recon Team.

With this, Niantic seems to confirm rumors that have been circulating since the announcement of the contents of GO Fest 2022. To be specific, the types of Unown available at the event this year, namely U, B, G, and O – as in Ultra Beasts and Pokémon GO – seemed like a hint.
In addition, the event takes place following the Season of Alola currently underway, which is the region where Ultra Beasts first appear in the games mentioned above.
Ultra Beasts are a third type of very rare Pokémon – alongside Legendary and Mythical pocket monsters. Whether there will be a new catching mechanic associated with them in the game or they will simply appear as raid bosses at gyms instead of Legendaries is currently as unclear as everything else. Randomly appearing wormholes that pop up during walks may be another option in line with Niantic’s philosophy. At least it is now certain that the Ultra Beasts will indeed appear in the near future.
The first portion of GO Fest 2022 is set to take place on June 4 and 5, 2022.
