UK Mens Baseball Suffers First Defeat

Kentucky baseball took it’s first loss of the season on Friday against Washington State.

The University of Kentucky baseball team traveled to Round Rock, Texas for the Karbach Round Rock Classic this weekend. They opened the Classic up with their first loss of the season to the Washington State Cougars baseball team 6-4.

The Wildcats really hurt themselves in this game, committing three errors in a very poorly defended game for Kentucky. The Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off of a Emilien Pitre double that scored a run. However, multiple fly balls lost in the sky and some untimely walks allowed the Cougars to take a 4-1 lead.

Kentucky rallied back to make it 4-3 in the seventh, before the Cougars added two in the eighth to make it 6-3. The Wildcats still had the winning run on base in the ninth, but couldn’t complete the comeback like they did against Morehead State earlier this week.

The Wildcats fall to 4-1 on the season, but look to bounce back on Saturday against Texas State. The Wildcats play at 5 p.m. EST and it can be watched on D1baseball.com as well as listened to on the radio on the UK Sports Network.
