UGA transfer is Penn State’s highest graded defender

UGA football cornerback transfer grades as Penn State’s best defender in impressive Week 1 win at West Virginia

Former Georgia Bulldog cornerback A.J. Harris made an immediate impact in Week 1 for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Harris, a former five-star recruit, is a sophomore and showed some of his immense talent right away as a true freshman at Georgia. However, as Harris’ freshman season went on he saw a decreased role with the Georgia defense.

Harris was Penn State’s highest-graded defender in the Nittany Lions’ 34-12 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers in Week 1. Penn State dominated the West Virginia offense. The Mountaineers managed just 250 total yards of offense and really struggled to pass against Penn State.

Harris played a key role for the Nittany Lions. He started and recorded three tackles and a pass deflection in Penn State’s win at West Virginia. In 54 total snaps, Harris was Penn State’s highest-graded defender according to Pro Football Focus. Harris earned a PFF grade of 79.4 and is poised to play even better as he settles into the Penn State defense.

A.J. Harris is not the only former Georgia transfer with a standout performance in Week 1. Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff looked good in his first career start. Purdue receiver De’Nylon Morrissette scored the first touchdown of his college career as well in Week 1.
