[autotag]Sean Brady[/autotag]’s MMA record remains flawless even after taking on one of the best fighters at welterweight.
The 28-year-old rising contender defeated veteran [autotag]Michael Chiesa[/autotag] in a unanimous decision at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 198. Brady (15-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) outpointed Chiesa (17-6 MMA, 11-6 UFC), wining 29-28 across all three judges’ scorecards.
The welterweight bout was the UFC Fight Night 198 co-main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It streamed on ESPN+.
It was a closely contested bout, that forced Brady to dig deep for the victory.
In the first round, Brady was eye poked twice within the first minute of the fight. Referee Herb Dean didn’t take a point from the two illegal pokes. Once action resumed, Brady immediately got a takedown and controlled the fight for a good portion of the round. Chiesa was able to get back up but had little time to work with.

In the second, Chiesa had a lot of success striking at range. He landed several hard combinations on Brady throughout the first half of the round. With two minutes left, Brady landed a takedown and took Chiesa’s back. He controlled Chiesa until the final bell.
The third round had Chiesa score the most significant moment of the fight. Chiesa hurt Brady with a combination and had him on his back foot on survival mode. Chiesa pressured and did all he could to finish Brady, but Brady was able to get the fight to the ground. Chiesa once again got back to his feet and hurt Brady. He finished the fight in mount, landing ground-and-pound as the final horn sounded.

With the win, Brady remains unbeaten in his MMA career. He’s 4-0 since joining the UFC in 2019. Brady had no names to call out following his big win, but did request for a main event slot for his next outing.
Meanwhile, Chiesa was coming off a first-round submission loss to Vicente Luque back in August. The defeat snapped a four-fight winning streak, which marked his return to the welterweight division.
