UFC Fight Night 244 weigh-in results: Three misses in Las Vegas, and one leads to a cancellation

Check out the UFC Fight Night 244 weigh-in results from Las Vegas, featuring Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira.

LAS VEGAS – Friday’s official UFC Fight Night 244 (ESPN+) weigh-ins are in the books, and it was far from a perfect session in “Sin City.”

Three fighters missed their marks on the scale on their first attempts. Jared Gooden (23-9 MMA, 2-4 UFC) was 172.5 pounds for his welterweight bout against Chidi Njokuani (23-10 MMA, 3-3 UFC) on the main card, but was given an additional hour to cut.

Josh Fremd (11-6 MMA, 2-4 UFC), though, will be fined a percentage of his purse if the commission and Abdul Razak Alhassan (12-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) approve a new middleweight bout. Fremd was 3 pounds over at 189. The same goes for Dan Argueta (9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC), who was heavy for his bantamweight prelim against Cody Haddon (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

In the main event, recent flyweight title challenger Brandon Royval (16-7 MMA, 6-3 UFC) takes on the unbeaten Tatsuro Taira (16-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC). Taira was first to the scale in the one-hour window at the UFC Apex and was 125.5 pounds. Royval was just a few minutes behind him in the queue and was 125.5, as well.

In the co-feature, JunYong Park (17-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and Brad Tavares (20-9 MMA, 15-9 UFC) hit their middleweight marks without issue. They weighed in consecutively and were 185.5 and 185 pounds, respectively.
